Jayne Mansfield Tattoos

I personally am not a fan of tattoos. I would never get one myself, I like having unstained porcelain skin just like the pinup queens I admire from the 50's and 60's. However while I'm not keen on tattoos, I have nothing against others who ink their own skin. In fact tattoos are very much socially accepted today. It was once associated with rebellious types like Bikers, Sailors and Prisoners however these days it is common for anyone to have tattoos. And I think for the younger group it can be a bit of a popularity contest when getting new tattoos. If you ask me tattoos have become a fashion trend today and I am not one to follow fashion trends. If I like a certain picture and I want it drawn up all lovely and looking artistic, I get it done on a canvas and hang it on my wall not permanently scar it on my body. Again that is just me, I'm an old soul. I don't think Jayne Mansfield would have ever gotten a tattoo had she lived, she loved her body and was so proud of her smooth silky white skin but I do think that if someone had approached her and showed her a tattoo they had done of her, well then I think she would have been somewhat honored by the gesture.

Here are some tattoos of Jayne I have found while searching the web. They mostly come from personal blogs and pages so I hope no one minds me re-posting their photos. They are all based on the glamorous late 50's Jayne except for one which is of the nude Peter Basch sitting she did around '65. I think that most of the tattoo artists of these tatts have captured Jayne's image well enough, a couple do look a little funny to me but mostly quite nice. I like the wrist tattoo of Jayne's signature and the zombie one is quite entertaining.

Here is a sped up video of a Jayne tattoo being done. It is very interesting to watch it come to life. I think the final result is the nicest Jayne tattoo I have seen as well.
