Joan Blondell has to be my favourite female co-star of Jayne's. Joan played Vi in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter. She and Jayne worked so well together, both having witty and funny lines to say. Their friendship as Rita and Violet was truly believable. I mean I believed they were best friends rather than employer and employee (which is what they were as well). There was even a feeling of motherly love for Rita coming from Violet.
Besides Joan as Violet (and Marie McDonald's character in Promises Promises) the characters Jayne portrayed in her films did not have female best friends so to see Joan and Jayne as Violet and Rita really was a pleasure to watch. They really fed off each others positive energy and they made a great female team.
