30 Day Jayne Mansfield Challenge Day 5 Favourite Male Co-Star

My favourite male co-star of Jayne's would have to be Tony Randall. The two worked together on both 'Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter' and then again on the Alfred Hitchcock Hour episode titled 'The Hangover'. Both times they worked brilliantly together.

I think many times Jayne was miscast with her male leads. In fact I just do not feel the chemistry with majority of her male co-stars and herself. They really teamed her with the wrong actors in my opinion. I would have loved to have seen Jayne teamed with Jack Lemmon. I think their comedy styles would have merged great together. Besides Tony I think that Jayne and Tom Ewell worked well together. I think that putting her with Dan Dailey and Kenneth More (The Wayward Bus and The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw) was an ill choice. There really is no chemistry between her and these two men.To me their love is not believable. If Jayne was the female lead in Kiss Them For Me I think she and Cary Grant would have been superb as lovers, instead Suzy Parker's character received the affections of Grant's character and their teaming as lovers was a very awkward one. Again, no chemistry between the two. If Jayne had have been teamed with the right actors from the start and they kept putting her alongside the right actors she could have really flourished. In her later movies her male co-stars were mostly b-grade actors whose names were not well known in Hollywood. Jayne was a one woman show towards the end and I find her male leads in these movies quite insignificant entirely.
