This morning I sat down and watched the new French Jayne Mansfield documentary. And while I did not understand what the narrator was saying I just could not wait for the release of the English version. The documentary is full of rare and unseen archive footage. I was amazed to see a behind the scenes footage reel of the filming of The Burglar where we actually see Jayne get burnt with the kettle (something I had only previously read about). A lot of footage inside the pink palace is featured including a really sweet clip of Jayne, Mickey and Jayne Marie with huge smiles on their faces as they show off the house they had just purchased (prior to Mickey's renovations). There was a tiny colour clip of Jayne playing badminton at home and a giant press gathering in the backyard by the pool. We also get to see a part of the interview Jayne and Mickey held at home on Christmas Day when they first got back together after the Bomba incident. A lot of family footage is seen with Jayne's first three kids (not too much of Mariska & Tony) including a rare clip of Jayne, Mickey, the kids and Matt Cimber in the background loading the kids into an awaiting vehicle. I was very very impressed with the amount of archive footage used in this documentary. It really is packed full of videos. I highly recommend everyone watches this. You can watch the video at the link below however it is also available to buy on DVD :-)
