The 56th Wedding Anniversary of Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay

Today marks the 56th Wedding Anniversary of Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. The two married at the Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verses, California on the 13th of January 1958. A total of 8,000 fans showed up to the wedding after Jayne had arranged for hundreds of pink wedding invitations to be dropped on the streets via helicopter prior to the ceremony. Jayne and Mickey did not have any bridesmaids or groomsmen but the Mother and father of the bride (Vera & Harry Peers) were always close by at hand as well as Jayne's daughter Jayne Marie. May Mann claimed in her Jayne Mansfield book that she was the maid of honor at the wedding but I have an article she wrote soon after the wedding took place where she claimed she did not attend the wedding. When looking at the hundreds of photographs from the wedding ceremony it is obvious that May lied in her book. Jayne and Mickey clearly did not have anyone by their sides in the wedding party.

After the wedding ceremony the couple drove off in a white convertible and headed to the airport where they meet Vera and Harry Peers to board the plane to Dallas. By this time Jayne was dressed in more comfortable attire, however Mickey, Vera and Harry all boarded the plane in their wedding outfits.

The next day Jayne and Mickey held their wedding reception at the home of Vera and Harry Peers in Dallas, Texas. Again local fans turned up to see the newlyweds.
