Jayne Mansfield at Dior Fashion Show in Paris 1957
It's been a very fashionable day, what with two new video's of Jayne and fashion. This second video clip is of Jayne at a Christian Dior fashion show in Paris 1957. Jayne is seen among the audience watching the show and trying on a beautiful gown from the collection. Once again, enjoy loverdolls xo
The Day Jayne's Home Came Under Threat
On November 6-7 1961 Jayne Mansfield's beloved home, the pink palace, was just four blocks away from the massive Bel Air fire. Many homes of the rich and famous came under threat during those two days. Zsa Zsa Gabor lost her hugely expensive $400,000 home to the flames and all her possessions including thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and art. Jayne was one of the lucky ones that day. Her home came out unscathed. Other Hollywood celebrites whose home came under-threat or was damaged belonged to Cary Grant, Red Skelton, Kim Novak, Alfred Hitchock, Ginger Rogers, Marlon Brando, Steve Cochran and Bobby Darin.
Kim Novak climbed the roof of her $200,000 home and hosed down the entire property.
Red Skelton had the help of 11 studio men and pumped the water from his pool using a pump borrowed from the Walt Disney lot.
I have been unable to find any reports of the actions Jayne Mansfield took, if she was even in town at the time. But if she was, I seem to think she would have gotten the kids out of the area and evacuated.
I am glad Jayne did not loose her house that day, she would have been so devastated. She loved her home and worked so hard to obtain it. Even now that it is no longer there, it just makes it all the more sad. At least Jayne was not here to see her home vanish.
Jayne Mansfield Meets Australian Designer Mr Wool
Our latest video is a real gem of a clip. It shows Jayne and husband Mickey Hargitay at a meeting with Australian wool designer. He offers both Jayne and Mickey wool gifts and Jayne walks off to try on the lovely dress she has been given. What makes it even more special is that the sound is still in tact.

Jayne Mansfield at the Palm Springs Police Show
The Palm Springs Police Show was an annual event, first starting out in 1949. Some of the biggest stars partook in the event over the years. The annual Police Show was always a big hit and would draw in sell out crowds. The event raised funds for local law enforcement charities. In the early 60's Jayne had the privilege of performing in the show. Not only did she perform in the stage event, she also rode in the parade with her family and was named the Rodeo Queen, unfortunately though whoever was in charge of the name banner misspelled her name. She also rode a horse in the rodeo and let her Mother Vera run loose backstage in the evening. As you will see in the following footage Vera gets a bit bossy with a reporter when wanting to greet Red while the reporter was talking with him.
Our latest video is footage of Jayne Mansfield at the Palm Springs Police Show and we have shared it on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.

The 53rd Anniversary of The House of Love
On the 29th of December 1960 Jayne and her husband Mickey Hargitay began their show at The Dunes Hotel. The name of the show was House of Love and it carried on for 2 months, ending on the 27th of February 1961. While performing in the show Jayne cut a record called 'Jayne Mansfield Busts Up Las Vegas' which featured the title songs from the show. Jayne was paid $35,000 a week ($280,000 for the full 8 weeks), $10,000 more than her appearance fee of $25,000 a week for her first Las Vegas Show 'Tropicana Holiday'. Choreography of the show was created by Ethel Martin and Jack Mattis. Also appearing in the show was Johnny O'Brien, the Peiro Brothers, Four Showgirls, 7 Female Dancers, 8 Male dancers and the Bill Reddie Orchestra.
Variety reviewed the show on the 11th of January 1961.
VARIETY REVIEW:
The Mansfield legend remained intact, in fact her obvious femme healthiness made her look more beautiful than ever. Never claiming to be a major leaguer in the vocal department, Miss Mansfield is sexy and exciting anyway, which probably will mean her show will do good biz.
Footage from the Show can be seen in numerous Mansfield documentaries.
Here are a few of our favourite photographs from The House of Love Show.

Will Jayne Appear In The Next Debbie Reynolds Auction?
A couple of months ago Profiles in History said to 'Stay tuned' when asked about more Debbie Reynolds items up for auction via their IG and today Debbie has announced on her FB page that her next auction will take place in April. This begs the question of whether or not she has anymore big ticket Jayne Mansfield items. In her 2011 auction she sold the Ivory White Lace gown that Jayne wore in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter (the dress today is on display in a museum in Ireland). As Debbie holds the largest Hollywood memorabilia collection in the world we are very hopeful that there will be more Mansfield items in the lot. Of course though, the only Mansfield items we seem to think she has are 20th Century Fox props and costumes so we do wonder if she will be selling a Mansfield item or two, which movies will they be from. Could there be more from Rock Hunter, or The Girl Can't Help It. It would be wonderful to see Jayne's Sheriff of Fractured Jaw costumes and how they look today or even her beautiful Kiss Them for Me costumes. Look at us getting ahead of ourselves. There may not even be any Jayne items in the lot, but we are very hopeful. Fingers, toes, pretty much all limbs are crossed to see more Jayne costumes at auction.

Jayne & Mickey Mentioned on The View
It seems that when ever Mariska Hargitay goes onto a program to promote and talk about SVU, the interviewer always brings up her parents, especially Jayne. Well when Mariska was on the view this week Barbara Walters brought up both Jayne and Mickey as they worked at the Latin Quarter with her Dad. They show a lovely photo of Jayne & Mickey too.

Watch Celluloidiva
Celluloidiva is a short film released in 2008 and created by a man called Harald Schleicher. The film consists of numerous starlets in scenes chopped from their best films and strategically placed together to tell a new story. It's like a 1000 monologues and one liners stitched together and it is quite powerful to watch. It demonstrates how talented each and every woman featured really was. And what's even better is that Jayne pops up numerous times throughout.

The 56th Wedding Anniversary of Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay
Today marks the 56th Wedding Anniversary of Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. The two married at the Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verses, California on the 13th of January 1958. A total of 8,000 fans showed up to the wedding after Jayne had arranged for hundreds of pink wedding invitations to be dropped on the streets via helicopter prior to the ceremony. Jayne and Mickey did not have any bridesmaids or groomsmen but the Mother and father of the bride (Vera & Harry Peers) were always close by at hand as well as Jayne's daughter Jayne Marie. May Mann claimed in her Jayne Mansfield book that she was the maid of honor at the wedding but I have an article she wrote soon after the wedding took place where she claimed she did not attend the wedding. When looking at the hundreds of photographs from the wedding ceremony it is obvious that May lied in her book. Jayne and Mickey clearly did not have anyone by their sides in the wedding party.
After the wedding ceremony the couple drove off in a white convertible and headed to the airport where they meet Vera and Harry Peers to board the plane to Dallas. By this time Jayne was dressed in more comfortable attire, however Mickey, Vera and Harry all boarded the plane in their wedding outfits.
The next day Jayne and Mickey held their wedding reception at the home of Vera and Harry Peers in Dallas, Texas. Again local fans turned up to see the newlyweds.

Watch Delirium
To celebrate Mickey on his birthday why not watch one if his movies. Delirium is a good choice, it was made by Matt Cimber too, of all people.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY HARGITAY!!!
Today would have been Mickey Hargitay's 88th Birthday. So today we will be honouring this wonderful and legendary man with a Mickey Hargitay Day theme.
One thing I am very disappointed about is the fact that no one has ever written a biography on Mickey. I would kill to have a book available about his entire life. Especially with in depth detail about his adolescent years growing up in Hungary. He is such a fascinating man who lead a very blessed life. I would just love to know more about his life outside of his relationship with Jayne.
