My New Favourite Jayne Photograph

I just adore coming across new photographs of Jayne and thinking to myself. 'Yep, that's my new favourite photograph'. 

Well with that said, this image is in fact my new favourite photo 

Jayne Mansfield at The Disneyland Hotel

Here are two rare images of Jayne at a press meeting at the Disneyland Hotel. The year scribbled along the top is incorrect though.

Jayne sure does look like a true movie star in these pics.

Jayne and Mickey did a series of adverts for the Italian drink Biancosarti. Here is the park bench skit which is of higher quality than the clip that has previously been shared.

Jayne Mansfield's Dress on Display in Museum

The ivory lace dress that Jayne Mansfield wore in 'Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?' and was auctioned off by Debbie Reynolds in 2011 has found its self a good home at the Museum of Style Icons in Ireland. The museum boasts a number of costumes worn by stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, Grace Kelly, Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn to name a few. I think that Jayne's dress could not have found a better home.

One of the facts they mention they got wrong though. It says that she wore the dress when placing her hand prints in cement outside Grauman's Chinese theater. This we know Jayne never had the pleasure of doing. She did do it in a scene in the movie as Rita Marlowe, but unfortunately Jayne herself was never asked to do so. She did however wear this dress numerous times. She wore it for a New Years Eve Clock Countdown photoshoot and she also wore it on a publicity tour she did of Europe. She wore the dress when she was in Italy but she could have worn it again throughout other European destinations as well.

Jayne Busts a Move at The Whisky-A-GoGo

So we have all seen the photos of Jayne breaking it down at the Whisky-a-gogo soon after the club first opened. Well here is another photo of Jayne from that night breaking it down with Jim Goldstein, a young college student at the time. Here in this photo Jayne appears to be doing the shimmy. Break it down Jaynie, break it down.

WATCH Jayne Mansfield Uncensored Rare Footage From The 8mm Boxset

I have recently created a new YouTube page to go with the Jaynie's Pink Palace blog. Here is my first video on the new page. It is Jayne Mansfield in the extended version of the nude bathtub scene for Promises Promises. This footage was not in the final film but was used in the 8mm footage box set titled Jayne Mansfield Uncensored. Photographer Bruce Mozert Talks Jayne Mansfield

Silver Springs photographer Bruce Mozert is 96 years old and still remembers his years as an underwater photographer fondly. On Tuesday he sat in his studio among his life work and discussed his 30 year career. Bruce made a small mention of the time he photographed Jayne Mansfield. Here is what he said;

"The photos I shot of Jayne Mansfield went worldwide, She was nobody until she came to Silver Springs, and boy did she play up the photography."

The time he mentions photographing Jayne Mansfield was of course at the press junket for Jane Russell's Film 'Underwater'. An event which is now legendary to Jayne Mansfield followers.

In 2008 a book featuring Bruce's work was published titled "Silver Springs, The Underwater Photography of Bruce Mozert". Here is a beautiful photo of Jayne Mansfield with her PR man, Ace Lundon and Jane Darwell. The event was a surprise Birthday party for Jane Darwell which Jayne attended. Ace represented both ladies at the time and according to him Jayne was so excited to meet Ms Darwell.

Jayne Mansfield Featured in Article 'They Tore Down Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot"

I have come across this very interesting website called Zombo's Closet of Horror. Featured on the website is a really fantastic article titled 'They tore down paradise and put up a parking lot'. In the article is a nice lengthy story about Theater manager John DiBenedetto better known as Johnny Dee.

I was in awe, especially with the photo of John with Jayne Mansfield; that blew my movie loving mind. That photo was too cool. How many of us can even say that we saw Mansfield in person, nevermind having your picture taken with her! These were some serious photos John told me I could take home and copy for my article. However, the photos were not in the best of condition. Many were cracked and splitting with age. Without asking John (and I should have), I repaired the photos the best I could with archival tape, placed them in plastic sleeves and put them in a black three-ring binder. On the cover I inscribed, using a silver paint pen, Johnny Dee - Poli Palace.

And of course here is that brilliant photo that was mentioned.

It is titled Property From The Estate of Milton H Greene and it has been released by Profiles in History (the company holding the auction).
