So I have finally gotten around to watching Jayne Mansfield's Car. While we all knew right from the start that the movie had very little to do with Jayne herself I was still curious about the movie as it is set in the 1960's and stars many great actors of today. I myself quite liked Jayne Mansfield's Car however I know that it isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you are into intense drama's than this movie is defiantly for you, if not than you might find this movie quite dull. The movie is about an American family and a British family who share the same mother. When their mother dies the British family travel to America to bring their mother home and to her final resting place. Each person in the story has their own personal battles and it all unfolds as the story goes along. The reference to Jayne in the movie happens when the two older men (the ex husband and the widow) attempt to bond. They check out the Death Car of Jayne Mansfield which is travelling through their town at the time. Duvall's character explains the story of what happened the night Jayne died and even explains that she was not decapitated like many people still think today. There are two wonderful paintings of Jayne made just for the movie and a young boy plants a kiss on one of them (this is also shown in the trailer). The paintings I believe will be used as a promotion for the dvd and blu-ray release.
