Jayne Mansfield Imitators - Repeat Offender # 1 ANNA NICOLE SMITH

I couldn't mention Jayne Mansfield Imitators without Anna Nicole springing to your mind, now could I?

Lots of Marilyn Monroe fans pass Anna Nicole off as a fowl Marilyn Monroe wannabe, but I think us Jayne fans understand her a little better than that. We see her in a kinder light. And we realise that while she was a Marilyn Monroe fan, she was in more ways a lot more similar to Jayne than she was Marilyn. She loved publicity much like Jayne and she also lived a very controversial life, again like Jayne did. Anna Nicole was our modern day Jayne Mansfield. And I think just like you and me, she too loved and looked up to the sweetie pie Jayne. So here are a few photos of Anna Nicole paying her homage to the great Jayne Mansfield.

Jayne Mansfield Imitators

Through out the years there have been ladies who have paid homage to the wonderful Jayne Mansfield through re-creating her famous poses. In most cases if they had done it once, they would do it again. Here are a few of the ladies who have brought Jayne's memory back with this gorgeous photos.

Siouxsie & the Banshees recorded a song for Jayne titled
"Kiss them for me" (the title of one of Jayne's movies).
The cover for the single to the song took inspiration
from a well known Jayne photo.

Vanessa Lake has been inspired by Jayne more than once.
Here she is again this time recreating the cover
from a well known Jayne Mansfield book.

Madonna is well known to have recreated many Marilyn
Monroe moments, however there has been a
few times when she imitated darling Jayne as well

LA DOLCE VITA - The Golden Age of Italian Style & Celebrity

So I have recently received a new book titled La Dolce Vita - The Golden Age of Italian Syle and Celebrity. It is a big thick photography book with Jayne & her family enjoying the Italian sun on the cover. All the images inside the book have no doubt come from the Scala website. It sure is a wonderful photography book to have. There are 8 large photos of Jayne inside. Other stars who are featured a lot in the book are Anita Ekberg, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot. This book is a must have for your Jayne Mansfield collection.

Jayne Goodies

I have been ordering up a storm of Jaynie goodies lately. I find it so very excited getting parcels in the mail. I will have to post photos of my collection here eventually. I am awfully proud of its growth. I now even own two of Jayne's personal Christmas greeting cards, her autograph and two typed and signed letters. Now all I need is a few personally owned and worn items ;-D

Rare Jayne Items

I have noticed that over the last few months there has been a seller on ebay getting rid of their Jayne Mansfield collection. This is the best time to grab ultra rare items which will probably never pop up for sale again, or at least not any time soon. Like this dress owned by Jayne which recently sold.

Jayne's Earrings

Hakes are selling a pair Jayne's earrings at the moment. There is hardly anything in the description about the earrings or where they came from, hence why I wouldn't buy them. However they sure do look lovely.

NUGGET MAGAZINE

One of my favourite Jayne sittings is the platted bun sitting (as I like to call it). I have an issue of Nugget, the men's magazine which is filled with the lovely images from this sitting.

My Jayne Mansfield Painting

I have a really lovely painting of Jayne that my friend in London created for me. I love my painting, it is simply gorgeous.

I will post another image of the painting hanging on my wall when I get the chance.

If you are interested, the artists name is Amelia Lumley and she has a facebook page where she takes orders. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Amelia-Lumley-Angell/186832938042477
She can commission anything you like.

My Latest Jaynie Book

I've recently gotten a new Jayne Mansfield book which has only just been released this year. However I won't be able to do a review on it because it is in French and I do not speak or read french. However I do plan on slowly translating it over time. But that may take a while because it takes time which I do not have at the moment. I knew it was French when I brought it, but being the die hard JM fan that I am I had to have it anyway, if only for the cover.

Quirky Article on Don Poynter - Creater of the Jayne Mansfield Hot Water Bottles

Once an 11-year-old maker of remote-control toy tanks and working cannons, Don Poynter incorporated Poynter Creations while a UC student to sell "Play Logs" -- similar to Lincoln Logs, but large enough for children to play inside. He later changed the company's name to Poynter International and spent nearly half his time in Asia manufacturing novelties. Thanks to Poynter, the world got to enjoy the first basketball backboard for a wastebasket, "The Thing" coin box featured on the Addams Family (14 million sold), Uncle Fester's mystery light bulb (also featured on the show), crossword-puzzle toilet tissue and the Jane Mansfield hot water bottle. Later, when the bottle aired on TV, Jack Parr covered part of its "anatomy" with a handkerchief. Poynter also created the world’s smallest working record player, sold with 39 tiny records that Poynter recorded with real orchestras, and a Steer-N-Go landscape for Matchbox cars, which grossed $75 million in its first year. Retiring in the late '90s, Poynter has held patents on 100 or so novelty items, admittedly a nebulous number because "I never really bothered looking it up," he says. He also built and currently owns Triple Crown Country Club in Union, Ky., and the new Widow's Watch Golf Course in Lexington, Ky.
