Jayne Mansfield Grand Marshall of The Lompoc Flower Festival

This is a real delight. It is a never before seen color image of Jayne, husband Mickey and daughter Jayne Marie riding in get another parade, this time being for the Lompoc Flower festival. Jayne was the Grand Marshall at the festival.

More From The Palm Springs Police Show

You might remember a fantastic video clip we made and shared on YouTube of Jayne and other memorable guests enjoying themselves at the Palm Springs Police Show (the video can be viewed in our VIDEO section). Well here are a couple more photographs from the event. Including a collage and color retouched image. Enjoy.

A Rather Peculiar Jayne Mansfield Family Snap

Just a quick post to share this rather unusual Jayne Mansfield image. The photo itself came from a transparency that sold at auction a couple of years back. The image depicts Jayne with her two sons Miklos and Zoltan climbing onto a giant tortoise for a photo opp however the camera snapped them at the wrong time leaving an un-posed for awkward looking photo. A true candid in other words hehe. Enjoy.

Vintage Dress - The Exact Make as Jayne Mansfield's

In the midst of looking through some gorgeous vintage dresses I came across a floral Mr Blackwell dress on etsy and I knew right away I had seen it on Jayne before. I could even remember the photo of her wearing it. She was standing on a balcony overlooking an ocean and cliffs. So I dug up the photo to share with our readers. While the floral pattern on Jayne's dress could be different to this one and the color might be different too, there is no doubt about it that she is wearing this design of Mr Blackwell's. If there is anyone out there wanting to own a vintage dress, the same kind as Jayne's, then this is for you.

The Perfect Jayne Mansfield Costume

We have posted about Morningstar's Jayne Mansfield creations before but here is a stunning image of one of her customers in the outfit which was recently posted on her blog. We think it is positively divoon. The dress is made to order, to your custom size. So if you ever feel like dressing up as Jayne, it doesn't get any better than this.

Jayne Mansfield Book Review - American Legends: The Life of Jayne Mansfield

You might remember our previous post about the new book American Legends: The Life of Jayne Mansfield, well I have received my copy today and quickly read it so I thought I should do a review of it. It actually was not as bad as I thought it would be. For a quick recap of Jayne's bio I think it was actually written quite well. For someone who doesn't have any books on Jayne and was perhaps writing an essay or report on her for school than this book would be great for them. In comparison to the other mini bio book on Jayne, Diamonds to Dust, this one is far superior. There is of course nothing new inside the book, which did not come as a surprise to me. As for facts, there are some mistakes and false tales printed but of course they have been sourced from previous tall tales told, like her association with JFK and Anton La Vey for example. But put that aside and the rest isn't so bad. The worst part about the book is it's cover. The cover is terrible, they have chosen a very low quality image for the cover and have squished it to fit. It looks awful. Given that the book only costs $6, I would say that it is worth every penny and it wouldn't hurt to add this thin book to your collection.

Jayne Mansfield Meets Sophie Tucker

Two stars of two entertainment eras, Sophie Tucker, left, and Jayne Mansfield, meet at the annual awards dinner of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Hollywood, March 6, 1959. They were among dozens of stars who turned out to watch presentation of awards for outstanding film performances.

Jayne Mansfield Frank Worth Lithograph Prints

I'm not too sure if there has been a post on this subject yet or not but seeing as there is a new batch up for sale I thought I should do a post. For the last two years Frank Worth lithograph prints have been popping up for sale on discount shopping sites. First starting out in 2012 on a website called Fab, selling for only $28. The lithograph prints are very high quality photographer prints with the Frank Worth seal on the bottom and they each come with their own COA's from the Frank Worth Estate. Now if you know anything about official Photographers prints than you will know they tend to be extremely expensive, often costing thousands of dollars. Well these numerous sites have been selling off the prints for $29.99. Now some of these sites have not offered international postage. Fortunately for me, I found a site about 2 years ago where I was able to get 2 different Jayne Mansfield Frank Worth Prints for $30 each without shipping costs. For the last year or so the only Jayne Mansfield print that has been popping up is the Roulette print, there was another of her sitting on carpet wearing her famous red velvet bikini which I was fortunate to get. There is also a third known Frank Worth Lithograph of Jayne showing her sitting on a stool in a black leotard but I have not seen this image for sale on one of these discount sites, only at full price which is $170. The latest site selling the Frank Worth prints is Groupon. The images of the prints on their site show colourized versions but it does say in the description that they are in their original black and white format.
Any one interested in buying one, I highly recommend them. It is very rare to get such a high quality photographers print for such a cheap sum. I am actually still amazed these sites are still selling them 2 years later.

The Story Behind the Photo

The most well known photograph of Jayne Mansfield and her lover, Nelson Sardelli, taken inside the Pink Palace shows a loved up Sardelli kissing the ankle of Jayne Mansfield. Here is the story behind the photograph.

April 30, 1963: Singer Nelson Sardelli playfully kisses a scratch on the ankle of actress Jayne Mansfield. Earlier that day,  Mansfield had attended a five-minute divorce hearing with husband, bodybuilder and actor Mickey Hargitay in a Mexico court.
The divorce was ruled invalid in California. But afterward, Hargitay and Mansfield briefly reconciled, then separated. Mansfield sued for the Mexican divorce to be recognized, winning in 1964.

Update on the Sale of Owlwood

We thought that our readers would be interested in an update on where the mammoth property Owlwood stands on the real estate market. The property has been up for sale for a long time now. It is such a huge and expensive property, there is no way it would have been a quick sale.

Take a look at the following link to read up on the price drop and rumors regarding its sale.
http://hollywoodhillview.com/tag/mama/

Since the property has been on the market the land where the Pink Palace once stood has been resurfaced with a black topped parking lot/road and the rubble has been cleared, yes the rubble from the Pink Palace remained there for years. You might remember a post from several months ago where we showed you a birds eye view of the land taken from the Google Maps 2012 viewer and clearly visible on the naked land was rubble including what appeared to be the mini heart shaped kids pool.

Below are more recent image from the property. Circled is the area where the Pink Palace once stood. As you will notice, the land has been cleared.

If you loved the pink palace than these images will not doubt be sad to see as they are for us. It is a very big waste of a true piece of Hollywood history.

Jayne Mansfield with a Wildcat

The gorgeous Jayne Mansfield, still an eager starlet at this point in her career, is shown posing with a Buick Wildcat in January 1955 at an auto show. Enjoy..

Rare Jayne Mansfield Candid Snap From the Florida Keys Public Library

The Florida Keys Public Library have shared this rare and unseen photograph of Jayne alongside a man called Harry Knight. The Photograph was taken by Don Pinder. No date is given but my guess would be 1965, possibly during one of her Summer Stock tours.. Enjoy

Photo-Shoots in The Pink Palace Post Jayne Mansfield

Jayne loved having regular photo shoots inside her beloved home but Jayne's stunning mansion was also the back drop to several photo shoots in later years. Including one where her own daughter, Jayne Marie returned to her childhood home in 1976.

OUI MAGAZINE

In January 1974 Oui magazine published an array of visually colorful fashion images taken inside the Pink Palace. Below are a few from that shoot.

JAYNE MARIE MANSFIELD

In 1976 during her pursuit of an acting career Jayne's first born child, Jayne Marie Mansfield returned to her mothers home, the mansion she herself grew up in for a photo shoot. Jayne Marie posed inside and outside. And even donned a bikini by her mothers swimming pool. Here are a few image of Jayne Marie's photo shoot at the Pink Palace. The images with our watermarks are scans from a personal collection.

ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK

Besides Jayne, one of the most famous owners of the Pink Palace (who also happened to be a fan of hers) was Engelbert Humperdinck. Not only did he have several photo shoots inside his home but he also filmed video clips inside the Pink Palace. Below are a couple of photographs of him at home and his film clip for hiss 1998 song 'This Night' filmed within the Pink Palace.

ANNA NICOLE SMITH

In the 90's the Pink Palace became a backdrop for another publicity loving buxom blonde. I am of course talking about none other than Anna Nicole Smith. Anna posed seductively around the property. Her images taken inside Jayne's bed room were a tribute to many images of Jayne taken in the same spot, with the same headboard in the back ground. Anna had a small dog with her to accentuate the Mansfield tribute.

For Anna Nicole Smith and Jayne Mansfield similarities search Anna Nicole in our search box. There is an old post with a few images of Anna Nicole recreating famous Jayne moments.

swimming pool

We are sure there are more photo shoots that have taken place within the Pink Palace over the years. These are but a few of the most well known. We will end this post with some iconic photos of the beautiful Jayne Mansfield at her home, The Pink Palace.

Jayne Mansfield by Ormand Gigli

This snap is a real treat for our readers. It is a gorgeous early pinup shot of Jayne taken in 1956 during her run on Broadway in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? Gigli's photos of Jayne were published in many magazines in 1956. His photography of Jayne was used for the cover of mini collectors pocket magazine simply titled 'Jayne' as well as the life size collectible pinup poster. This particular image is stunning. It shows a topless Jayne posing in front of a room divider holding two hand held fans to cover her bust. The backdrop is a lovely pale pink, and to make the image even more intriguing you can see part of the room behind the photographers back drop with her gorgeous little companion Philip the chihuahua strutting himself into view.

The image is featured in Gigli's book 'Girls in the Window: and Other Stories' which was released in November 2013 and can be purchased through Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Girls-Windows-And-Other-Stories/dp/1576876608/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394679822&sr=8-1&keywords=ormond+gigli

Prints of the image can be ordered through the main website. We will let you know the costs once they have gotten back to us.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this stunning photograph.

Jayne Mansfield Recites Cleopatra

Here is a lovely fan made clip featuring Jayne reciting Cleopatra from her album Shakesphere, Tchaikovsky & Me. I have this album and it is quite quirky. It is something very out of the ordinary and is actually pretty rare. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of hearing the album, you will no doubt get a kick out of this video. I really like how they have put it together with Egyptian photos, Jayne photos and little quips about Jayne.

The Passing of Mr Blackwell's Partner, Robert L Spencer

So we all know the stories about Jayne's association with designer Mr Blackwell, and after years of Jayne supplying him with great publicity he turned on her and their friendship by naming her a member of the 'worst dressed' list, all because she insisted on him having design credit in her movie Promises Promises (a very nice gesture on her part by the way). Anyways, the man behind the success of the Blackwell clothing line, Robert L Spencer has recently passed away. Two new and unseen photographs of Jayne from Spencer's private collection have been revealed by Highlight Hollywood. And here they are. If you wish to read the full story from their website and read more about the passing of Spencer then please click one of the images to take you to the original link.

Jayne Mansfield Visits Winston-Salem

On the 6th of March 1963 Jayne Mansfield visited the town of Winston-Salem. Here is a gorgeous little story about her trip there.

Full article can be seen here: http://winstonsalemtimetraveler.com/2014/03/06/march-6/

The Winston-Salem Journal headline on March 7, 1963 was “Jayne Hits City Like a Twister.”  Staff reporter, Roy Thompson, noted in his article that Jayne had a whirlwind visit to Winston-Salem the previous day, but managed to give several interviews and even danced the twist at the WSJS television studios.
The following day Jayne visited Wake Forest College and sat in on a history class, much to the distraction of the college students.
Jayne was traveling with her husband, Mickey Hargitay, and their two children.  Their third child, Mariska (Law & Order: SVU), was born the following year,  in 1964.  Jayne and Mickey divorced, and Jane was killed in an automobile accident in 1967.  Mariska was raised by her father and his third wife.

Jayne Mansfield & Her Granddaughter

Jayne Mansfield's beautiful Granddaughter Jianni Cimber certainly has Jayne's stunning smile. Good gene's certainly do run in the family.

The Burglar New Release DVD

One of Jayne's earlier dramatic film's, The Burglar (based on the book by David Goodis) has finally received an official DVD release as a single movie. I myself, have the film in a really interesting Film Noir classics boxset but this is the first time the movie has been released as a single movie in its original English format. The cover art chosen is the traditional image used for poster promotion when the film was originally released. The DVD was released on the 5th of March 2014 by Sony Pictures.

The DVD can be purchased through Amazon or the Warner Archives

Jayne Mansfield & Mickey Hargitay Enjoy Spaghetti In Rome

Yes!!! We are rejoicing as there are no watermarks on this gorgeous high quality image of Jayne & Mickey enjoying spaghetti on a night out in Rome 1960. The Scala Archives have a series of these images but sadly have always been watermarked.

Familiar Faces - Jayne's Co-star & Second Husband Greet

In 2006 at the 56th annual Berlin Film Festival Jayne's costar from her German film Homesick for St Pauli, Freddy Quinn, got acquainted with her second husband Matt Cimber. Jayne and Freddy worked together in 1963 which was before she meet Matt. I do wonder what these two men chatted about when they meet at the film festival all these years later, was Jayne mentioned at all? I imagine she would have been.

March Updates to The Jayne Mansfield Page

This is just a quick post to mention a few new updates to the website. We now have a couple more pages along the header bar. As well as 'Pic of the Month' we now have a video's page which has all our latest videos and a for sale page which we will add to as new merchandise and collectibles pop up for sale. We are working on more exciting pages to add to the website so we will let you know when those have been added.

We do not have an email attached with the website and we also do not have the comment feature enabled on the site so it does make it a little difficult for our readers to get in contact with us and we do realize that so we have come up with a solution. Those of you wanting to contact the site please send you queries through to our new community page on Google+ https://plus.google.com/communities/116299312133013659002

In the mean time we hope you are enjoying the latest posts. Plenty of Jayne news is always surfacing so we will definitely keep you updated.

New Mini Book on Jayne Mansfield "American Legends - The Life of Jayne Mansfield"

There is a new Jayne Mansfield book out called American Legends - The life of Jayne Mansfield. To be honest it doesn't sound too promising as it is only 42 pages long. We doubt it will have a single new thing in it but as collectors it is still something that is great to add to the collection. And as the price of the paper back version is so cheap ($6.29) how can we say no to it.

You can order yours through Amazon
