Natalie Wood & Jayne Mansfield

As well as being a die hard Jayne Mansfield fan, I am also a very big fan of actress Natalie Wood. Sadly today marks the 31st Anniversary of her death. In memory of both Natalie and Jayne here is a photo of the two from my own personal collection. They meet during the casting of rebel without a cause for which they both tried out for the role of Judy.

The Girl Can't Help it Deluxe Expanded Edition Soundtrack

So my best friend has brought to my attention a newly released deluxe edition boxset of the Girl Can't Help it Soundtrack. The box set contains three discs with a total of 101 songs. It defiantly looks very worthwhile and for a great price too. Check it out.

Hollywood Unseen: Photographs from the John Kobal Foundation

Hollywood Unseen - Photographs from the John Kobal Collection is a new photography book which was released this month and features a little of Jayne. Inside the book is a well know photograph of Jayne with Dennis Hopper and she is again featured on the back cover of the book.

Below is the printed description of the book followed by images of the front and back covers.

'Hollywood Unseen' is a tribute to the incredible inventiveness and ingenuity of the great Hollywood film studios: Columbia, Paramount, MGM, Universal, Warner Brothers, RKO and Twentieth Century Fox. From the late 1920s to the early 1950s these studios presided over the 'Golden Age of Cinema', and their publicity departments created some of the most stunning and iconic images of Hollywood's stars ever taken. Here, for the first time, are photographs showing the 'ordinary lives' of the stars, including Rita Hayworth, Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe. In reality, these photographs were as carefully constructed and prepared as any classic portrait or scene, and they depicted the actors and actresses exactly as the studios wanted them to be seen. The publicity departments cleverly formed an idealised view of the husbands, wives, children, pets, parties, premieres and hobbies of the stars. Ironically, many of the images were only used once or twice, and were then never seen again. Drawn from the extensive archive of the John Kobal Foundation, this book showcases an extraordinary collection of these hidden photographic gems. John Kobal was an authority on Hollywood portrait photography, who established a preeminent collection of works featuring iconic stars of the day. The Getty Image Library in London will be hosting an exhibition of these images to coincide with the publication of this book.

A Must Have For Any Jayne Mansfield Collection

One of my favorite items in my Jayne Mansfield collection is the Jayne Mansfield for President Campaign Magazine. It is a great collectible for the Jayne obsessed person. It doesn't pop up as often as some other Jayne Mansfield magazines and is considered quite rare. If you don't already have a copy than I suggest you get one. You will not be disappointed. Below is a scan from my own copy.

There is currently one on ebay with a decent starting price. It would make an excellent Christmas present for a friend or family member who adores Jayne.

Jayne's Pet Chihuahua

The Museum of Death in California have on display a stuffed chihuahua which they believe to be one of Jayne Mansfield's pet dogs killed in the crash which took Jayne's life. The couple who run the museum actually seem like lovely people. They have a reality show coming out titled "Death Dealers". To learn more about the museum and the owners follow the below link'

http://laughingsquid.com/photos-the-museum-of-death-in-hollywood-california/

Myself, being the huge Jayne Mansfield fan that I am, is skeptical about the stuffed pooch actually being Jayne's because of the information displayed alongside the little fella. The facts provided are all wrong. The accident had nothing what so ever to do with Alcohol consumption, it states that most of her head was cut off which is better than saying she was decapitated (which a lot of people still believe) but still highly unlikely that 'most of it' was cut off, it mentions her boyfriend as being the driver (when we all know that Ronnie Harrison was the driver, it does not mention Ronnie at all), it says that four of her dogs were also killed in the accident, however out of the four doggies in the car two died and two survived (at least this is what has been written in biographies) and lastly it says that all four of Jayne's dogs from the accident went to Anton Le Vey after Jayne's death because Jayne stipulated them to go to him in her will... JAYNE DID NOT HAVE A WILL.

So what I am getting at here is that I am fine with there being a museum of death, in fact I do have a morbid curiosity so I would probably visit it given the chance but what I am disappointed about is all the incorrect facts about Jayne being toted around. People who don't know all that much about Jayne will see that on exhibit and walk away thinking it to be the truth. It's no wonder that so much false facts surrounding Jayne and her death still circulate when to this day people mentioning her in a display such as this don't bother to do the simple and proper research.

Jayne Mansfield Intimate Strangers Mail Order Poster

So I'm sure most of you have seen the Jayne Mansfield Intimate Strangers Mail Order Posters. You might have thought them to be actual licensed movie advert posters however they were a fantastic gimmick  By writing into the mail order company you could order your copy of the Intimate Strangers poster with your own name below Jayne's. I've come across many different types of the poster previously but for the first time I have seen a catalog advert for the poster (see last image).

Jayne Mansfield's Ferrari For Sale

Yes, you read that correctly. Jayne Mansfield's Ferrari is for sale. The price is not listed however it will no doubt be a steep price and will most probably be purchased by a Ferrari enthusiast rather than a Jayne Mansfield fan.

I have come across this site selling Jayne Mansfield's Ferrari once before, (I think it was about a year ago). It looks like it has been put back up on the market this week.

The car has had a lot of work done to it since the time Jayne was the owner including a paint job. It sure is a spunky little car and one that I imagine Jayne would have loved and been very proud of.

Heartbreaking Footage of Jayne discussing Soldiers She Meet in Vietnam

This footage just breaks my heart. Jayne is the biggest sweet heart. This was not long before she lost her own life too.

Earl Moran Jayne Mansfield Painting

Here is an original Earl Moran painting currently for sale. The listing says the painting  is of Jayne Mansfield. It sure does look like Jayne however if it really is her I would love to see the photograph the painting was based upon. Often it is hard to tell whether or not the model is actually correctly stated without seeing the photograph as well. I have seen this particular painting around before (on forums mostly) stating it to be Marilyn Monroe. I really doubt that it is Marilyn. But whoever it is, it really is a lovely painting. Who wouldn't love to have this hanging on their wall.

Jayne Mansfield and Sophia Loren Photograph at Exhibition

The famous photograph of Sophia Loren eyeing off Jayne Mansfield's chest is currently on display at a photography exhibition all about the 1960's. The photographs featured in the exhibit are from the collection of David Davis. All of which are press/wire photographs not high quality photographers prints which I thought to be a little strange. However these photographs are a part of History and are very lovely. I myself own many Jayne Mansfield original press photos. They happen to be my favorite Jayne items to collect.

Moving on, the exhibit is being held at the Worcester Art Museum and tickets cost $14
