Thoughts on New Jayne Documentary

OK, I am going to make this a quick post because I have talked about this documentary so many times now. Jayne Mansfield From Hollywood to Yorkshire finally arrived at my door this week. I watched it immediately and well naturally I loved it. Hearing everyone's stories of what they remembered about her trip to Yorkshire was my favorite part. There was plenty of archived footage and photos used but unfortunately nothing new apart from one photograph of Jayne among a crowd of people wearing a leopard coat. The photo isn't even that great as she is standing on her side and you can hardly see her face. But moving aside, I really did like it and am very happy that it was made. Now I would love to see a documentary on her trip to Brazil.

Jaynie's Pink Palace Book Review: The Gresh - A Lifetime in Show-Biz

This book is a short but sweet autobiography by Carl Gresham aka The Gresh. I have had this book in my collection for quite a while now. Seeing there is so much talk about Jayne's 1967 trip to Yorkshire of late I thought that I should at least mention this book for anyone who is not familiar with it.

Carl was working as a Press Relations Officer at the Batley Variety Club when Jayne came to town. Mention of Jayne in the book is brief. There is no lengthy chapter on Jayne but merely a small paragraph. There is one full page black and white photograph of Carl with Jayne (if I remember correctly access to this photo is on Carl Gresham's web page along with the three small images of Jayne holding puppies). However I am not greedy, I am at least glad that Carl mentioned Jayne and I was thrilled to see her grace the front cover. There are many other people mentioned in Carl's book however majority of them are British soap stars from the 70's whom I had never heard of so I can't say that I enjoyed the entire book. However I did at least stick through it til the end and there were parts that I did enjoy.

I am glad to have this item in my collection. I would recommend this book only for the real die hard Jayne Mansfield fans like myself who have to get their hands on anything to do with Jayne no matter how small the significance. Anyone only after new photographs or lengthy text on Jayne this book is not for you.

Pre Orders are in

I have just been told that my pre-order of Jayne Mansfield from Hollywood to Yorkshire is on its way. YAY!! Everyone else who have pre-ordered I assume the same goes for you. The dvd should arrive next week. I am so excited to see this documentary. I will be doing a review on it soon.

Promotion of 'Jayne Mansfield From Hollywood to Yorkshire'

The man behind the upcoming Jayne Mansfield documentary promotes the doco with his mother on a British TV show.

Didn't realise it is going to be aired on American TV next week. So US fans who don't have region free DVD players there you go, don't miss out on it.

Jaynie's Pink Palace Book Review: La Dolce Vita - 60's Lifestyle in Rome

I realise it has been quite a while since my last book review so I thought I am much overdue for another one. This book is a beautiful large coffee table book and is also rather recent having been released in December 2011. It is much like La Dolce Vita - The Golden Age of Italian Style and Celebrity. The images in both books are sourced through the scala archives, they both feature American and European celebrities in Italy during the 50's and 60's and they both have covers featuring Jayne Mansfield. Personally I like this book more purely because it is much more thicker. Believe me, it's a huge book. And whereas the previous book featured 8 images of Jayne Mansfield this book has 11, most of which are full page beautiful black and white shots. Other celebrities featured in La Dolce Vita - 60's Lifestyle in Rome are Brigitte Bardot, Anita Ekberg, Audrey Hepburn, Liz Taylor, Sophia Loren, Dean Martin, Kirk Douglas, Frank Sinatra and many many more. There isn't much text, the only aspect adding to the volume of the text is the fact that you have the option of choosing from six different languages to read from, including English of course. It is a lovely book to have especially if you are very much into the lifestyle of Rome in the 1960's. The fact that Jayne and Mickey grace the front cover is really an added bonus to this wonderful coffee table book.

Jayne Mansfield watches Dior Show From the Front Row

Jayne Mansfield has finally been used in the form of a projection. She is featured in the new Dior Exhibit which is taking place in Normandy. Jayne sits in the front row and watches the models walk down the catwalk. A companion book for the exhibit titled 'Stars in Dior' will be released, I wonder how much of Jayne will be featured in the book if at all.

Jayne Sings in Italian on TV Show

Hi folks, its been a while since my last post because I have been away on Holiday. I had a wonderful trip but now I'm back and ready to post as many new and wonderful Jayne news as possible. Starting off with this glorious clip of the darling Jayne singing in Italian the song is called Quando Quando which translates to when when. I love her little wiggles as she sings the song superbly. Enjoy xx
